Proper Storage of Diatomaceous Earth Stoves
Diatomaceous earth is sensitive to water and moisture, so please keep it indoors in a well-ventilated place with as little moisture as possible.
Improper Storage of Diatomaceous Earth Stoves
As a rule, avoid outdoor storage. Also please note that storing in a humid place can lead to mold, brittle surfaces, and damage. Even when storing in a shed or basement, choose a well-ventilated location with as little humidity as possible.
If you must store the stove in a humid place, take measures to prevent humidity, such as wrapping the diatomaceous earth stove in newspaper or cardboard after wiping off stains, or using dehumidifying agents.
Storage Precautions
When storing diatomaceous earth stoves, please note the following points.
Properly Extinguish the Fire and Cool
When storing, make sure the fire is completely extinguished, then wait for the diatomaceous earth stove body to cool naturally. Please note that with charcoal fires in particular, even if the fire appears to be extinguished, a spark may remain.
Diatomaceous earth stoves are sensitive to water, so avoid sprinkling water on them when digesting them. Remove the charcoal or other fuel to a fire extinguishing pot with fire scissors or extinguish the fire by burning it completely.
Avoid Water
Avoid exposing diatomaceous earth stoves outdoors to the rain, as well as pouring water on them to extinguish or cool them, or washing them in water. If you are worried about the stains, wipe them off with a stiffly wrung towel.
Mold & Odor Prevention
Stains on diatomaceous earth stoves are basically fine as long as they can be burned off with each use.
Stains adhering to areas out of reach of fire power may cause mold or odor to develop during storage. To prevent mold and odor, clean frequently by wiping off dirt with a tightly wrung towel.
Cleaning around Air Ventilation Duct
The area around the air vent is prone to accumulation of burned-out ash and fine charcoal scraps. Dirt buildup can lead to poor air circulation and smooth heat control. Clean around the air vent frequently to keep the door opening and closing smoothly.
Moisture Protection
To prevent diatomaceous earth stoves from moisture, newspaper or cardboard boxes are effective.
Once the stove is completely extinguished and the unit has cooled down, cover the entire stove with newspaper or cardboard. It is even more effective to place a dehumidifier inside the stove.
To Use Diatomaceous Earth Stove for a Long Time
To longer useful life of your diatomaceous earth stove, it is important not to allow it to absorb water or humidity and to avoid shocks. When transporting the stove, please be careful not to bump or drop it.
