Key Features

  • Yamada is the only manufacturer in Japan that shapes pans by hammering the cast iron plate more than thousands of times. Professional chefs highly praise their pans for their excellent quality.
  • Their skilled artisans hammer each cast iron sheet approximately 5000 times to shape it into a pan.
  • The pan's surface is textured with tiny bumps, allowing oil to absorb and preventing your food from sticking. It distributes heat quickly to cook your food deliciously.

Use & Care

  • It is coated to prevent from rusting. Please remove the coating by heating the entire pan evenly over high heat. After that, please season it before cooking with it.
  • It must be seasoned before being used for the first time. Please see the following page to learn how to season a pan. Have an all-around Japanese wok in your kitchen!
  • For gas stovetops only. Please do not use it on other cooktops.
  • The size and weight may differ slightly since each pan is hand-made.
  • The handle gets hot when cooking, so please be careful.

Background

Yamada Kogyosho Co., Ltd. manufactures woks with hammering method that presses iron plates into shape by hammering. They are the only wok manufacturer utilizing this method in Japan. Hammered thousands of times while skilled artisans overlook each process, their works are known for their durability and heat conductivity. Hammering leaves uneven surfaces on which oil blends nicely and prevents burning. Their woks are, therefore, highly appreciated by professional chefs.
