Background

In 1973, Amashio had started producing salt from sea water at Ako, Hyogo. This place had been well known as a salt production area from Edo era (around 1645).

During Japan's period of rapid economic growth, Japanese government passed a bill to ban the original salt making procedure and promote to carry out modern ways. This was time that Amashio tried to seek a good place other than Ako to produce salt. They finally found a new place - Shark Bay Australia (world heritage site).

Amashio has been and will be producing nutrition-rich salt for Japan and the world.
